About the Internship
This role offers the opportunity to experience two sides of the organisation. You will be working together with the Sales and Marketing Manager at Propagation Place to support marketing and communication, as well as supporting the everyday needs of the project.
Propagation Place is the Farm’s eCommerce Community Business where a small team of staff and local volunteers grow and dispatch over 2000 orders of vegetable plug plants, amounting to over 100,000 individual plants, both locally and nationwide each growing season. All profits from sales are used to fund the work that we do in our local community. The project was born out of a consultation with local people to find out how we could better support our local food system whilst providing accessible volunteering, training and employment opportunities from our relatively small urban site. We are looking for one intern learn and thrive in the project and to work with the Propagation Place team to develop their community outreach programme.
You will also work with the Farm’s Communications and Events Manager to plan, organise and run two upcoming events, the Farm Fair and Apple Day.

Main purpose of role

What would you be doing?

Support the Communications and Events Manager in the planning and organisation of the Farm's upcoming events.

Communicate the Farm’s and Propagation Place’s key messages and news updates through social media, blogging, and website updates.

Participate in propagation, growing, packing, and sales of vegetable plug plants.

Work with the Propagation Place team to grow and develop PP for its long-term continuation through an increase in community engagement and sales.

Ensure the safety of yourself, and others in accordance with the Farm's risk assessments and health and safety policies.

Undertake the role of an advocate and enable the self-advocacy of beneficiaries/volunteers.

Support the work of St Werburgh's City Farm and Propagation Place by being an ambassador for food education and sustainability initiatives.
Where is the opportunity based?
St Werburghs City Farm. 25 hours working per week (09:30-16:00 Monday-Thursday with some flexibility to include other days and weekends). Flexible to fit around your studies.
The successful candidate would be expected to work extra hours close to an event and work the event which will take place on a weekend. This will be part of paid hours.
